Wounds Of Love And Other Silly Things

I spoke to you of wisdom and magick,

and fate, and poet's wings.

Of  love's golden circle, and energy beams,

and sometimes of fairy tale flings.

Of songs and dance, first and last romance,

of things that only I could see,

Of  borrowed dreams and passion's moments,

and spirits wandering free.

Of singer's of songs, and healers of souls,

and re-awakened dreams

Of a moment in time in a secret garden,

when we were real, or so it seemed.

Then love's time went on hold, passion's heat

grew cold, I tried to deny my fears,

but you heard my voice break when I tried to speak

and when I laughed away my tears.

You thought there was a wound in my words,

you felt what I knew to be true,

see, you knew me too well, and you could tell

that I felt the wound in me and you.

Of course I knew that we were leaving,

long before I walked out of your heart.

but I glanced away into the wind

never wanting the ending to start.

So I went along sailing the ocean

of things that could never be, while on a

distant shore of broken dreams,

lay lover's memories…

in the sands of time on the edge of paradise,

dying shadows of you and me...

the promises we made, echoes of lover's true

lies…all washed away by a tropical sea.

Now the songs have been sung, the dance is done,

my wings no longer fly. It's written in stone,

all things must end, the moving finger writes on

and passes us by. Dreamer's toss in their sleep,

no more dreams to dream, they awaken and wonder

why, why songs no longer sing, why love's time

stood still, and why the dream had to die.

But perhaps it all lives in another place,

a place that we can't see,

perhaps we can never ever erase,

the things we caused to be.

Perhaps we love on in a different space,

for all time through eternity.

Perhaps there's a place beyond the dreams,

where there's no wound in you and me.
