Let me thank you for the pleasure of your company,

Was the pleasure really all mine?

Did I sing and dance haphazardly,

or were we destined to be here this time?

Let me thank you for the dance, the chance at romance,

my big chance to be a star.

Was my name up in lights in your heart for a moment,

and did I take the dance too far?

Did I play the role fate ordained for me,

or did I veer from the dance on my own?

Did I play the wrong music, dance out of turn,

miss the tempo; forget the lessons learned?

I was your private dancer, your heart

was what I danced for. Did I dance too fast,

or dance too slow, or did you check your

heart at the door?

Was it fate, who cut in and took you away,

that left me alone on the floor, or was there another

dancer somewhere, One who could hold you into the night

and promise you so much more?

The dance is over, I fell out of time, I'll get my coat now;

it's getting late. But one last question, if you don't mind.

Was it you who danced away from me,

or was it really just fate?

Let me thank you for the pleasure of your company

before I walk out the door. You're a very good dancer,

by the way, I guess you knew the score,

but it was my first chance to dance this romance,

no, no need for an apology,

Just one last drink to chance, and to our last dance,

And let me thank you for the pleasure of your company.
